Cuban Show Havana Tropical Will Be Hosted in Paris

The Olympia Theatre of Paris will host on Sunday the Cuban show ‘Havana Tropical’ by Santiago Alfonso, director of the company of the same name and also director and choreographer of the Cuban National Folkloric Dancing Group.

This will be only the second time in which the theatre hosts representatives from Cuban culture with the first one dating back to 1992 when singer song-writer Pablo Milanés performed there.

Production manager Carmen Mayans said the company will have about 80 presentations in France together with two other Cuban cultural institutions: Musicalia from ARTEX and the Cuban National Dance Center.

Mayans pointed out that the company will perform in very prestigious theatres like the Casino de Paris, Opera de Massy, André Malraux, Zenith de Toulouse and the Opera de Lyon theatres.

She also said that performing at the Olympia Theatre is quite a challenge for the 35 Cuban artists taking into account that it has been the stage of important figures such as Astor Piazzolla, Ray Charles, Josephine Baker, Miriam Makeba, Santana, Celine Dion and Nat King Cole.
