Alejo Carpentier's Stories to Be Published in Spain

The Spanish publishing house Akal is preparing the upcoming release of a selection of stories by Cuban Alejo Carpentier (1904-1980), said his anthologist, Spanish Professor Eduardo Becerra.

During a recent stay in Cienfuegos, Becerra said that the edition of the tales of Cervantes Prize (1977) is his latest work. Becerra has a doctorate in philosophy and literature at the Autonomous University of Madrid, where he is a professor and directs the Master's Edition.

In his Curriculum Vitae are included the anthologies Lineas Aereas (guide to the new Latin American fiction), published in 1999 by Lengua de Trapo, and El Arquero Inmovil. Also Nuevas poeticas del Cuento, a collection of essays that came out with Paginas de Espuma editorial in 2006.

About Cuban literature as a subject in his researches, the member of the Spanish Association of Hispanic Literary Studies said that is very interested in tracing more continental keys, not just the national ones.
